Project Manager

Project Manager

Job Title: p/t Project Manager
Responsible to: Board of Trustees
Salary: £4680 pro rata (based on an hourly rate of £15 ph)
Hours: 6 hours per week
Contract: Fixed Term for a period of 6 months (based on 24 working weeks) There will be a probationary period of one month.

Main Purpose of role:
The role of the project manager is to work with the board of trustees to oversee the smooth running of the charity and explore its strategic development. The role is suited to a proactive individual with a broad range of administrative and organisational skills. The ideal candidate will be able to manage and prioritise their workload, while demonstrating high-quality administrative, IT and communication skills.

Main Tasks to include:
● Respond to general enquiries and correspondence via telephone and email
● Ensure the smooth running of all current projects whilst working with the board of trustees to develop new projects and programmes of work
● Manage Evolve Music’s freelance music leaders including communicating regularly, providing project updates and producing freelance agreements inline with the charities recruitment policies
● Maintain strong outward communications to promote the organisations work via social media platforms and the charities website

● To support funding applications
● Develop new ideas and partnerships/relationships on behalf of the charity attending networking events where appropriate
● To develop and manage volunteers working for the charity
● Manage, maintain and develop the charity databases (members, friends mailing, fundraising) in line with GDPR
● Maintain and support the monitoring of all the charities equipment keeping the inventory up to date
● Provide administrative support for the management and maintenance of monitoring of Evolve and evaluation systems

Working environment and conditions of this post:
This post requires you to work remotely from your own home with access to your own computer and internet connection. Access to transport is also crucial for this role to be able to attending meetings, project observations and networking events when required.

Reporting: The project manager will report to the board of trustees on a regular basis working with the founders to achieve the vision, mission and aims of the charity.

Person spec:

This fixed term position requires someone with excellent communication and IT skills, with a flexible working attitude who can fit into a small team.

Essential skills:
● Excellent organisational skills and effective time management
● Computer literate including Microsoft excel, word and database skills
● Accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects
● Ability to work alone and within a team
● Strong communication skills, both oral and written
● Conscientious and hard working

● Knowledge and understanding of music inclusion
● Experience of writing or supporting the writing of funding applications
● Familiar with all social media networks

Are you a freelance music leader looking for exciting opportunities to work with communities and  young people across Somerset and Wiltshire?

Evolve Music are a community music charity based in Somerset looking for experienced and passionate music leaders to join our pool of freelancers.

The Role

Our creative composition approach allows us to be flexible and offer tailored workshops/projects to Early Years, Young People and Community groups. Using an open access creative method we can engage all ages and abilities in our workshops. Our approach is process focussed, but many of our projects have a natural performance outcome.

Essential Skills:

- high standard musical skills on one or multiple instruments

- improvisation skills

- composition skills

- excellent aural skills

- ability to play from memory

- sound piano and/or guitar skills

- experience of working in relevant areas (ie schools, community groups, Early Years settings etc.)


We are looking for music leaders with specific skills and experience of working with the following:

 -      Early Years delivery (0 – 5 year olds)

-       Young People (Primary and Secondary)

-      Music Technology

-      Special Educational Needs and Disability sector
