Overview

Over 10 weeks, pupils will create music from scratch using a range of instruments that we provide (as well as using instruments that your school/ individual pupils have). Due to the pupils creating the pieces themselves, with guidance and direction from the music leaders, they take complete ownership and pride in their work and it is exciting for them to see their ideas come to life.

Curriculum coverage:

Organically learning interrelated musical elements through creative composition style: (pitch, rhythm, texture, timbre, dynamics, notation)

  • Developing instrumental skills
  • Developing singing skills
  • Developing improvisation and composition skills
  • Developing listening and aural memory skills
  • Developing ensemble skills
  • Appreciating a range of music
  • Brief understanding of history/context of related music
  • Optional Performance at the end

Often participants gain much more than just the musical outcomes, for instance; creative writing, an understanding of local history and a whole host of social and developmental skills.
